DAR ES SALAAM, Jan. 21, 1995 (AMP) — South Africa 1996 (Qualifiers) : Tanzania defeated Algeria by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.

The result put the Tanzanians top of Group 4 with 9 points. Algeria is third with 6 points. In their next game, Tanzania will meet Uganda on April 8, while Algeria will face Ethiopia.
