BAMAKO, Jun. 22, 1997 (AMP) — Burkina Faso 1998 (Qualifiers) : Mali defeated Benin by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 3-1), in a qualifying game for the 1998 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.
The result put the Malians top of Group 2 with 9 points. Benin is bottom with one point. In their next game, Mali will meet third-placed Algeria on July 13, while Benin will face Ivory Coast.
