JOHANNESBURG, Dec. 16, 2000 (AMP) — Mali 2002 (Qualifiers) : South Africa defeated Liberia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.

The result put the South Africans top of Group 2 with 6 points. Liberia is second with 3 points. In their next game, South Africa will meet Mauritius on January 13, while Liberia will face Congo-Brazzaville.
