BLOEMFONTEIN, Jun. 5, 2004 (AMP) — Egypt 2006 (Qualifiers) : South Africa defeated Cape Verde by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon.

The result put the South Africans top of Group 2 with 3 points. In their next game, South Africa will meet third-placed Ghana on June 20, while Cape Verde will face Uganda.
