ABUJA, Jul. 3, 2004 (AMP) — Egypt 2006 (Qualifiers) : Nigeria defeated Algeria by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon.

The result put the Nigerians top of Group 4 with 6 points. Algeria is 5th with 2 points. In their next game, Nigeria will meet second-placed Zimbabwe on September 5, while Algeria will face Gabon.
