Egypt beats Burkina Faso in shoot out to reach AFCON final
COTONOU, Feb. 1, 2017 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 : Egypt reached the Africa Cup of Nations final for the eighth time in their history after defeating Burkina Faso 4-3 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw) on Wednesday night at the Stade de l'Amitié in Cotonou.
The score was still 1-1 at the end of the regulation game time and overtime, after goals from Mohamed Salah ('66) for Egypt and Bancé ('73) for Burkina Faso. The Egyptians finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 4-3.
