AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Togo defeats Liberia 2-1
LOMé, Jun. 14, 2015 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Togo defeated Liberia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday afternoon at the Kegue Stadium in Lomé.
Liberia had started off well by taking the lead in the 43rd minute with a goal by forward William Jebor. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Togoleses nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Ouro-Akoriko '64 and Adebayor '87).
The result put the Togolese second in Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Togo will meet Djibouti at the Kegue Stadium on September 4, while Liberia will face Tunisia.
