AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Equatorial Guinea draw 1-1 with Benin
BATA, Jun. 14, 2015 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Equatorial Guinea tied 1-1 with Benin (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday afternoon at the Estadio de Bata.
The Benineses started off well by taking the lead thanks to Beninese midfielder Stéphane Sessegnon in the 42nd minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Equatorial Guinea with a saving goal from Equatorial Guinean forward Emilio Nsue in the 49th minute.
The result left both teams tied in the second place of Group C with one point. In their next game, Benin will meet group leaders Mali at the Estadio de Bata on September 6, while Equatorial Guinea will face South Sudan.
