AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Benin defeats South Sudan 2-1
JUBA, Mar. 23, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Benin defeated South Sudan by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday afternoon at the Juba Stadium.
Benin dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Gounongbe in the 11th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Benineses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Mounié in the 73rd minute.
The result put the Beninese top of Group C with 5 points. South Sudan is third with 3 points. In their next game, Benin will meet third-placed South Sudan at the Juba Stadium on March 27, while South Sudan will face Benin.
