AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Benin beats South Sudan 4-1
COTONOU, Mar. 27, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Benin defeated South Sudan by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday afternoon at the Stade de l'Amitié in Cotonou.
Stéphane Sessegnon scored dual goals
Benin dominated the first half thanks to goals from Sessegnon ('23) and Poté ('37). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Benineses further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Dossou '71 and Sessegnon '89).
The result put the Beninese top of Group C with 8 points. South Sudan is third with 3 points. In their next game, Benin will meet Equatorial Guinea at the Stade de l'Amitié on June 12, while South Sudan will face Mali.
