AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Mali defeats Equatorial Guinea 1-0
MALABO, Mar. 28, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Mali defeated Equatorial Guinea by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday afternoon at the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo.
45 minutes of play and neither the Malians nor the Equatorial Guineans have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Malian forward Mustapha Yatabaré seconds before the end of regulation.
The result put the Malians top of Group C with 10 points. Equatorial Guinea is bottom with one point. In their next game, Mali will meet third-placed South Sudan at the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo on June 4, while Equatorial Guinea will face Benin.
