AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Mali beats South Sudan 3-0
JUBA, Jun. 4, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Mali defeated South Sudan by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon at the Juba Stadium.
Mali dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Diaby in the 35th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Malians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Maïga '47 and Doumbia '58).
The result put the Malians top of Group C with 13 points. South Sudan is third with 3 points. In their last game, Mali will meet second-placed Benin at the Juba Stadium on September 4, while South Sudan will face Equatorial Guinea.
