AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Benin beats Equatorial Guinea 2-1
COTONOU, Jun. 12, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Benin defeated Equatorial Guinea by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday afternoon at the Stade de l'Amitié in Cotonou.
Benin dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Adénon in the 25th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Benineses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Djigla in the 60th minute.
The result put the Beninese second in Group C with 11 points. Equatorial Guinea is bottom with one point. In their last game, Benin will meet group leaders Mali at the Stade de l'Amitié on September 4, while Equatorial Guinea will face South Sudan.
