AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Uganda beats Botswana 2-1
FRANCISTOWN, Jun. 4, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Uganda defeated Botswana by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon at the Francistown Stadium.
Uganda dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Kizito in the 9th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Ugandans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Aucho in the 53rd minute.
The result put the Ugandans top of Group D with 10 points. Botswana is third with 6 points. In their last game, Uganda will meet Comoros at the Francistown Stadium on September 4, while Botswana will face Burkina Faso.
