AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Guinea-Bissau beats Zambia 3-2
BISSAU, Jun. 4, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Guinea-Bissau defeated Zambia by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 2-1), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon at the Estádio 24 de Setembro in Bissau.
Guinea-Bissau dominated the first half thanks to goals from Zezinho ('14 on penalty) and Mendy ('36). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Bissau-Guineans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Silva seconds before the end of regulation.
The result put the Bissau-Guineans top of Group E with 10 points. Zambia is third with 6 points. In their last game, Guinea-Bissau will meet second-placed Congo-Brazzaville at the Estádio 24 de Setembro on September 4, while Zambia will face Kenya.
