AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Kenya beats Congo-Brazzaville 2-1
NAIROBI, Jun. 5, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Kenya defeated Congo-Brazzaville by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday afternoon at the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi.
Congolese midfielder Prince Oniangue opened the score in the 18th minute on penalty, before seeing Kenya catch up in the 23rd minute thanks to Masika. 1-1 at half time. The Kenyans eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Johanna in the 66th minute.
The result put the Congolese second in Group E with 6 points. Kenya is bottom with 4 points. In their last game, Congo-Brazzaville will meet group leaders Guinea-Bissau at the Moi International Sports Centre on September 4, while Kenya will face Zambia.
