AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Cape Verde beats São Tomé and Príncipe 7-1
PRAIA, Jun. 13, 2015 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Cape Verde defeated São Tomé and Príncipe by a big score of 7-1 (halftime: 4-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon at the Cape Verde National Stadium in Praia.
Djaniny scored dual goals
Cape Verde dominated the first half thanks to goals from Djaniny ('10), Rocha ('17 on penalty), Rodrigues ('38) and Fortes ('41). Leading 4-0 at the break, the Cape Verdeans further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Babanco '51/penalty, Djaniny '73 and Tavares '75).
The result put the Cape Verdeans top of Group F with 3 points. In their next game, Cape Verde will meet third-placed Libya at the Cape Verde National Stadium on September 6, while São Tomé and Príncipe will face Morocco.
