AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Cape Verde beats Libya 2-1
CAIRO, Sep. 6, 2015 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Cape Verde defeated Libya by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday night at the Petro Sport Stadium in Cairo.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Kay ('57) and Mendes ('89).
The result put the Cape Verdeans top of Group F with 6 points. Libya is third with no points. In their next game, Cape Verde will meet second-placed Morocco at the Petro Sport Stadium on March 26, while Libya will face São Tomé and Príncipe.
