AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : São Tomé and Príncipe defeats Libya 2-1
SãO TOMé (CITY), Mar. 23, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : São Tomé and Príncipe defeated Libya by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday afternoon at the Estádio Nacional 12 de Julho in São Tomé (city).
Libya had started off well by taking the lead in the 23rd minute with a goal by Al Badri. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the São Toméans nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (El Trbi '83 own and Leal '88).
The result put the São Toméans third in Group F with 3 points. Libya is bottom with no points. In their next game, São Tomé and Príncipe will meet Libya at the Estádio Nacional 12 de Julho on March 28, while Libya will face São Tomé and Príncipe.
