ALEXANDRIA, Mar. 29, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Egypt defeated Nigeria by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday night at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
45 minutes of play and neither the Egyptians nor the Nigerians have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Sobhi in the 66th minute.
The result put the Egyptians top of Group G with 10 points. Nigeria is second with 2 points. In their next game, Egypt will meet third-placed Tanzania at the Borg El Arab Stadium on June 4, while Nigeria will face Chad.
