AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Algeria beats Ethiopia 7-1
BLIDA, Mar. 25, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Algeria defeated Ethiopia by a big score of 7-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Friday night at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida.
Sofiane Feghouli and Islam Slimani scored dual goals
Algeria dominated the first half thanks to goals from Feghouli ('23) and Slimani ('32). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Algerians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring five times (Feghouli '48, Brahimi '72, Taïder '75, Ghezzal '80 and Slimani '90).
The result put the Algerians top of Group J with 9 points. Ethiopia is second with 4 points. In their next game, Algeria will meet second-placed Ethiopia at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker on March 29, while Ethiopia will face Algeria.
