AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Burundi beats Niger 2-0
BUJUMBURA, Sep. 5, 2015 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Burundi defeated Niger by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon at the Prince Louis Rwagasore Stadium in Bujumbura.
Burundi dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Abdul Razak in the 25th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Burundians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Nshimirimana with just 9 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Burundians second in Group K with 3 points. Niger is third with 3 points. In their next game, Burundi will meet Namibia at the Prince Louis Rwagasore Stadium on March 26, while Niger will face Senegal.
