AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Zimbabwe defeats Malawi 2-1
BLANTYRE, Jun. 13, 2015 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Zimbabwe defeated Malawi by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Malajila opened the score in the 23rd minute, before seeing Malawi catch up in the 24th minute thanks to J. Banda. 1-1 at half time. The Zimbabweans eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Billiat with just 7 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Zimbabweans top of Group L with 3 points. In their next game, Zimbabwe will meet third-placed Guinea at the Kamuzu Stadium on September 6, while Malawi will face Swaziland.
