AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Zimbabwe beats Malawi 3-0
HARARE, Jun. 5, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : Zimbabwe defeated Malawi by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday afternoon at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
Zimbabwe dominated the first half thanks to goals from Musona ('15 on penalty) and Billiat ('36). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Zimbabweans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Malajila with just 3 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Zimbabweans top of Group L with 11 points. Malawi is bottom with 2 points. In their last game, Zimbabwe will meet third-placed Guinea at the National Sports Stadium on September 4, while Malawi will face Swaziland.
