AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : South Africa beats Gambia 4-0
BAKAU, Jun. 4, 2016 (AMP) — Gabon 2017 (Qualifiers) : South Africa defeated Gambia by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Gabuza and Dolly scored dual goals
South Africa dominated the first half thanks to goals from Gabuza ('29, '38). Leading 2-0 at the break, the South Africans further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Dolly '55, '79).
The result put the South Africans third in Group M with 6 points. Gambia is bottom with 2 points. In their last game, South Africa will meet second-placed Mauritania at the Independence Stadium on September 2, while Gambia will face Cameroon.
