AFCON 2019 Qualifiers : Mali defeats Gabon 2-1
BAMAKO, Jun. 10, 2017 (AMP) — Cameroon 2019 (Qualifiers) : Mali defeated Gabon by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday night at the Stade du 26-Mars in Bamako.
Gabon had started off well by taking the lead in the 3rd minute with a goal by French midfielder Denis Bouanga. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Malians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (K. Coulibaly '54 and Bissouma '57).
The result put the Malians second in Group C with 3 points. In their next game, Mali will meet South Sudan at the Stade du 26-Mars on September 9, while Gabon will face Burundi.
