AFCON 2019 Qualifiers : Gabon hold Burundi to 1-1
GABON, Sep. 8, 2018 (AMP) — Cameroon 2019 (Qualifiers) : Gabon tied 1-1 with Burundi (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday afternoon at the Stade d'Angondjé in Gabon.
The Burundians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Burundian forward Saido Berahino in the 38th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Gabon with a saving goal from Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 75th minute.
The result put the Burundians top of Group C with 4 points. Gabon is third with one point. In their next game, Burundi will meet second-placed Mali at the Stade d'Angondjé on October 12, while Gabon will face South Sudan.
