AFCON 2019 Qualifiers : Mali beats South Sudan 3-0
JUBA, Sep. 9, 2018 (AMP) — Cameroon 2019 (Qualifiers) : Mali defeated South Sudan by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday afternoon at the Juba Stadium.
Mali dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by French forward Moussa Marega in the 45th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Malians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (S. Coulibaly '71 and Traoré '87).
The result put the Malians top of Group C with 6 points. South Sudan is bottom with no points. In their next game, Mali will meet second-placed Burundi at the Juba Stadium on October 12, while South Sudan will face Gabon.
