AFCON 2019 Qualifiers : DR Congo beats Congo-Brazzaville 3-1

KINSHASA, Jun. 10, 2017 (AMP) — Cameroon 2019 (Qualifiers) : DR Congo defeated Congo-Brazzaville by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday night at the Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecôte in Kinshasa.

Bakambu scored dual goals

Bakambu opened the score in the 19th minute, before seeing Congo-Brazzaville catch up in the 45th minute thanks to Thievy Bifouma. 1-1 at half time. The congoleses eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by Bakambu ('54) and Mbemba ('90).

The result put the congolese top of Group G with 3 points. In their next game, DR Congo will meet Liberia at the Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecôte on September 9, while Congo-Brazzaville will face Zimbabwe.
