AFCON 2019 Qualifiers : Ivory Coast beats Rwanda 2-1
KIGALI, Sep. 9, 2018 (AMP) — Cameroon 2019 (Qualifiers) : Ivory Coast defeated Rwanda by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday afternoon at the Nyamirambo Stadium in Kigali.
Ivory Coast dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by French forward Jonathan Kodjia in the 45th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Ivorians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Gradel in the 48th minute.
The result put the Ivorians third in Group H with 3 points. Rwanda is bottom with no points. In their next game, Ivory Coast will meet second-placed the Central African Republic at the Nyamirambo Stadium on October 12, while Rwanda will face Guinea.
