AFCON 2019 Qualifiers : Burkina Faso defeats Botswana 3-0
OUAGADOUGOU, Oct. 13, 2018 (AMP) — Cameroon 2019 (Qualifiers) : Burkina Faso defeated Botswana by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday night at the Stade du 4-Août in Ouagadougou.
Burkina Faso dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Pitroipa in the 4th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Burkinabés further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Diawara '48 and A. Traoré '61).
The result put the Burkinabé top of Group I with 6 points. Botswana is bottom with no points. In their next game, Burkina Faso will meet Botswana at the Stade du 4-Août on October 16, while Botswana will face Burkina Faso.
