Atletico beats Bayer in shoot out to reach Champions League quarterfinals
MADRID, Mar. 17, 2015 (AMP) — Champions League 2014-15 : Atletico Madrid defeated Bayer Leverkusen on penalties 3-2, after the match ended 1-0 in regulation time, in the second leg of a round of 16 game on Tuesday night at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid.
The score was still 1-0 at the end of the regulation game time and overtime, after Mario Suárez's only goal in the 27th minute. Los Colchoneros finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 3-2.
