Champions League 2015-16 : Benfica defeats Atletico 2-1

MADRID, Sep. 30, 2015 (AMP) — Champions League 2015-16 : Benfica defeated Atletico Madrid by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a Champions League group stage game on Wednesday night at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid.

Correa Angel opened the score in the 23rd minute, before seeing Benfica catch up in the 36th minute thanks to Gaitan Nicolas. 1-1 at half time. The Eagles eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Guedes in the 51st minute.

The result put Benfica top of Group C with 6 points. Atletico is second with 3 points. In their next game, Benfica will meet third-placed Galatasaray at the Vicente Calderon Stadium on October 21, while Atletico Madrid will face FC Astana.
