MANCHESTER, Nov. 1, 2016 (AMP) — Champions League 2016-17 : Manchester City defeated Barcelona by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a Champions League group stage game on Tuesday night at the City of Manchester Stadium in Manchester.

Gundogan Ilkay scored dual goals

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi opened the score in the 21st minute, before seeing Manchester City catch up in the 39th minute thanks to Gundogan Ilkay. 1-1 at half time. The Citizens eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by De Bruyne Kevin ('51) and Gundogan Ilkay ('74).

The result put Barcelona top of Group C with 9 points. Man City is second with 7 points. In their next game, Barcelona will meet Celtic at the City of Manchester Stadium on November 23, while Manchester City will face Mönchengladbach.
