MADRID, Sep. 28, 2016 (AMP) — Champions League 2016-17 : Atletico Madrid defeated Bayern Munich by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Champions League group stage game on Wednesday night at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid.

All the action happened in the first half, with Atletico Madrid midfielder Yannick Ferreira Carrasco goal in the 35th minute.

The result put Atletico top of Group D with 6 points. Bayern Munich is second with 3 points. In their next game, Atletico Madrid will meet Rostov at the Vicente Calderon Stadium on October 19, while Bayern Munich will face PSV Eindhoven.
