Champions League 2016-17 : Atletico beats Bayer 4-2

LEVERKUSEN, Feb. 21, 2017 (AMP) — Champions League 2016-17 : Atletico Madrid defeated Bayer Leverkusen by a score of 4-2 (halftime: 2-0), in the first leg of a round of 16 game on Tuesday night at the BayArena in Leverkusen.

Atletico Madrid dominated the first half thanks to goals from Ñiguez ('17) and Griezmann ('25). Leading 2-0 at the break, Los Colchoneros further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Gameiro '59/penalty and Torres '86).

The second leg between Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid will be played on Wednesday March 15, 2017 (kick-off: 20:45) in Madrid.
