Champions League 2017-18 : Man Utd beats Benfica 2-0

MANCHESTER, Oct. 31, 2017 (AMP) — Champions League 2017-18 : Manchester United defeated Benfica by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Champions League group stage game on Tuesday night at Old Trafford.

Manchester United dominated the first half as a result of the unfortunate own goal scored by Svilar Mile in the 45th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Red Devils further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Blind on penalty in the 78th minute.

The result put Man Utd top of Group A with 12 points. Benfica is bottom with no points. In their next game, Manchester United will meet second-placed Basel at Old Trafford on November 22, while Benfica will face CSKA Moscow.
