Champions League 2017-18 : CSKA Moscow defeats Benfica 2-0

MOSCOW, Nov. 22, 2017 (AMP) — Champions League 2017-18 : CSKA Moscow defeated Benfica by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Champions League group stage game on Wednesday night at the VEB Arena in Moscow.

CSKA Moscow dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Schennikov Georgi in the 13th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the “Koni” further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Vieira Jardel into his own net in the 56th minute.

The result put CSKA Moscow second in Group A with 9 points. Benfica is bottom with no points. In their last game, CSKA Moscow will meet group leaders Manchester United at the VEB Arena on December 5, while Benfica will face Basel.
