Champions League 2017-18 : Chelsea beats Atletico 2-1

MADRID, Sep. 27, 2017 (AMP) — Champions League 2017-18 : Chelsea defeated Atletico Madrid by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a Champions League group stage game on Wednesday night at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

Atletico Madrid had started off well by taking the lead in the 40th minute with a goal by French midfielder Antoine Griezmann on penalty. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Blues nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Morata '60 and Batshuayi '90).

The result put Chelsea top of Group C with 6 points. Atletico is third with one point. In their next game, Chelsea will meet second-placed AS Roma at the Wanda Metropolitano on October 18, while Atletico Madrid will face Qarabag.
