LISBON, Sep. 27, 2017 (AMP) — Champions League 2017-18 : Barcelona defeated Sporting Lisbon by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a Champions League group stage game on Wednesday night at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.

45 minutes of play and neither Barcelona nor Sporting Lisbon have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Uruguayan defender Sebastián Coates into his own net in the 49th minute.

The result put Barcelona top of Group D with 6 points. Sporting is second with 3 points. In their next game, Barcelona will meet Olympiacos at the Estádio José Alvalade on October 18, while Sporting Lisbon will face Juventus.
