DR Congo beats Rwanda in extra time to advance to CHAN semifinals
KIGALI, Jan. 30, 2016 (AMP) — Rwanda 2016 : DR Congo reached the semifinals of the 2016 African Nations Championship courtesy of a 2-1 extra time victory over Rwanda (following a 1-1 draw in regulation) on Saturday afternoon at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
The score was still 1-1 after the 90 minutes of regulation time, after goals from Gikanji ('11) for DR Congo and Sugira ('56) for Rwanda, and both teams had to wait for overtime to settle the issue. In the 114th minute, it was ultimately Bompunga who brought the Leopards to victory by scoring the winning goal.
