Germany beats Portugal to advance to Euro semifinals
BASEL, Jun. 19, 2008 (AMP) — Austria Swizerland 2008 : Germany reached the semifinals of the 2008 UEFA Euro with a 3-2 win against Portugal (halftime: 2-1) on Thursday night at St. Jakob-Park in Basel.
Germany dominated the first half thanks to goals from Schweinsteiger ('22) and Klose ('26). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Germans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Ballack in the 61st minute.
