Turkey beats Croatia in shoot out to advance to Euro semifinals
VIENNA, Jun. 20, 2008 (AMP) — Austria Swizerland 2008 : Turkey reached the semifinals of the 2008 UEFA Euro after defeating Croatia 3-1 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw) on Friday night at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.
The score was still 1-1 at the end of the regulation game time and overtime, after goals from Ivan Klasnić ('119) for Croatia and Semih ('120) for Turkey. The Turks finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 3-1.
