BELFAST, Sep. 6, 2006 (AMP) — Austria Swizerland 2008 (Qualifiers) : Northern Ireland defeated Spain by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2008 UEFA European Championship on Wednesday night.

The result put the Spaniard second in Group F with 3 points. Northern Ireland is 5th with 3 points. In their next game, Spain will meet group leaders Sweden on October 7, while Northern Ireland will face Denmark.
