REYKJAVíK, Sep. 12, 2007 (AMP) — Austria Swizerland 2008 (Qualifiers) : Iceland defeated Northern Ireland by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2008 UEFA European Championship on Wednesday night.
The result put the Irish third in Group F with 16 points. Iceland is 5th with 8 points. In their next game, Northern Ireland will meet group leaders Sweden on October 17, while Iceland will face Latvia.
