Spain beats France to advance to Euro semifinals
DONETSK, Jun. 23, 2012 (AMP) — Poland Ukraine 2012 : Spain reached the semifinals of the 2012 UEFA Euro with a 2-0 win against France (halftime: 1-0) on Saturday night at the Donbass Arena in Donetsk.
Xabi Alonso scored dual goals
Spain dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Xabi Alonso in the 19th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Spaniards further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Alonso on penalty in stoppage time.
