Portugal beats Croatia in extra time to reach Euro quarterfinals
LENS, Jun. 25, 2016 (AMP) — France 2016 : Portugal qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2016 UEFA Euro courtesy of a 1-0 extra time victory over Croatia (following a 0-0 draw in regulation) on Saturday night at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens.
The score was still nil-all after the 90 minutes of regulation time and both teams had to wait for overtime to settle the issue. In the 117th minute, it was ultimately the Portuguese striker Ricardo Quaresma who brought Portugal to victory by scoring the winning goal.
