France beats Ireland to reach Euro quarterfinals
LYON, Jun. 26, 2016 (AMP) — France 2016 : France qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2016 UEFA Euro with a 2-1 win against Ireland (halftime: 0-1) on Sunday afternoon at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon.
Antoine Griezmann scored dual goals
Ireland had started off well by taking the lead in the 2nd minute with a goal by midfielder Robbie Brady on penalty. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Frenchs nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Griezmann '58, '61).
