Portugal beats Poland in shoot out to advance to Euro semifinals
MARSEILLE, Jun. 30, 2016 (AMP) — France 2016 : Portugal reached the semifinals of the 2016 UEFA Euro after defeating Poland 5-3 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw) on Thursday night at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille.
The score was still 1-1 at the end of the regulation game time and overtime, after goals from Robert Lewandowski ('2) for Poland and Sanches ('33) for Portugal. The Portugueses finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 5-3.
