Germany beats Italy in shoot out to advance to Euro semifinals
BORDEAUX, Jul. 2, 2016 (AMP) — France 2016 : Germany reached the semifinals of the 2016 UEFA Euro after defeating Italy 6-5 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw) on Saturday night at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux.
The score was still 1-1 at the end of the regulation game time and overtime, after goals from Mesut Özil ('65) for Germany and Leonardo Bonucci ('78 on penalty) for Italy. The Germans finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 6-5.
